Paul Lawton-Jones has over 28 years of experience in the security industry, progressing from a Security Officer to Executive Leadership roles.

Before founding Mercury Training Services in 2005, Paul served as a Communications Specialist in the Royal Navy’s Submarine Service, where he honed his skills in high-pressure environments. His military discipline and expertise have been instrumental in his rapid advancement in the private security sector.

Mercury is now a leading national apprenticeship training provider specialising in security and facilities management with over 250 clients. They’re the exclusive provider of security apprenticeships for various government and private organisations, showcasing their excellence in training delivery.

Paul is a key contributor to industry development, having played a role in the Security Trailblazer Group to shape the new Level 2, Professional Security Operative Apprenticeship, and the Security First Line Manager Apprenticeship.

Through Mercury Training, Paul continues to drive innovation in security education, ensuring that the sector’s workforce is equipped with the skills and knowledge to meet the evolving demands of modern security operations.

He’s joined the Security Skills Board to represent training providers and add his years of experience in the sector to the ongoing effort to elevate professional standards and improve training practices across the industry.
